Personal training in Zurich: how your coaching works at Klub der Sportfreunde

Icon

Want to finally see results, feel confident under the barbell or get back into structured training after a break? Personal training takes you there in a targeted way, with someone at your side. At Klub der Sportfreunde in Zurich-Altstetten, you train one-on-one with a coach who knows your goals, corrects your technique and plans your training. In this article, you'll find out who personal training is for, what you get and how it works.

Who is personal training for?

Personal training is right for you if you

  • have a clear goal, such as building muscle, losing fat, getting stronger or improving athleticism,
  • are new to strength training and want to learn proper technique from the start,
  • already train but have stopped making progress,
  • have aches or complaints and aren't sure which exercises suit you,
  • need structure and commitment to stick with it.

Our members range from beginners to experienced athletes. Your coach meets you where you are.

What you get

One-on-one coaching

In personal training, you have your coach's full attention. Together you work on technique, load and movement quality. Your coach explains why an exercise is in your plan and how to perform it cleanly. What makes a good coach is the topic of our articles (in German) Die Qualitäten eines exzellenten Personaltrainers, Teil 1 and Teil 2.

Your plan in the app: you keep training on your own

This is the big difference from a simple session with a trainer: between sessions, you keep training independently with your plan in the training app. Every session comes with short notes on focus, warm-up, load and effort. That way, every personal training session becomes a building block of a well-designed programme, and you can work on your goals in a targeted way even on days without your coach. We explain in detail how our plans are created in our article How KDS training plans are made.

Making progress visible

With the 3D Body Scan, we make visible what is changing in your body, for example in muscle mass and body fat.

Semi-personal training

Prefer to train with a partner or in a small group? Semi-personal training for two to four people is available on request. You share the coach and still get individual attention.

Prices

  • 1 hour of personal training with the coach of your choice (excluding the head coach): CHF 160
  • 10 hours of personal training: CHF 1'500, valid for 6 months
  • 1 hour of personal training with the head coach: CHF 250
  • Semi-personal training: price on request

You can find all current prices on our prices page.

Personal training as a subscription: the Premium membership

Want to train with your coach regularly without booking every session individually? Then the Premium membership is your personal training subscription. For CHF 1'120 per month, you get:

  • 8 personal training sessions per month, that is two sessions per week,
  • access to the club and everything included in the Classic membership,
  • your plan in the app to keep training on your own between sessions,
  • a 3D Body Scan with consultation once a month,
  • towel, water and coffee with every personal training session.

Minimum term: 3 months.

For comparison: 8 single sessions at CHF 160 cost CHF 1'280. With the 10-session package (CHF 1'500, i.e. CHF 150 per hour), 8 sessions cost CHF 1'200. With the Premium membership, the 8 sessions and the membership are included in the monthly price of CHF 1'120. If you want to train with a coach twice a week anyway, the subscription is the simplest solution. You can find all details on our prices page.

How it works

1. Get in touch and get to know us

Contact us via the form on our personal training page or book a trial training. There you can tell us which topics interest you, for example building muscle, losing weight, athletic training, mobility or strength.

2. Goal setting and analysis

In your first appointment, you and your coach clarify your goals, experience, available time and any complaints. This is followed by a weak-point analysis and, if useful, a 3D scan as a baseline measurement.

3. Training in phases

Your plan runs in phases of usually 6 to 12 weeks, followed by a plan review and the next phase. In personal training, you work on the focus areas of the current phase. In between, you train on your own with the app.

4. If you have complaints

If you have complaints, we coordinate your training with physiotherapy. The physio exercises then take priority. Training does not replace a medical or physiotherapeutic assessment.

5. Review and move forward

In your plan reviews, you and your coach look at your progress, training data and scan values and set the next phase.
